A recognition I’ll never forget

I’m so honoured to have won the 7NEWS Community Achievement Awards Australia Local Legend category for Victoria.

I was overseas for the gala dinner, so my dear friends Jason and Laura attended as my proxies to accept the award. I had also filmed a just-in-case acceptance speech before I left, and Jason delivered a beautiful speech on the night. I’m so grateful to them both for being there for me.

Coming home to this beautiful award was such a lovely surprise. Thank you to Community Achievement Awards Australia, 7NEWS Melbourne and the sponsors, including Regional Development Victoria and Real Flame, for this incredible honour.

I never started this journey for accolades, but having the work recognised in this way feels very special. I’m so chuffed, and so grateful to everyone who has supported NICU Cheer along the way.
