Help Ashton play safely (nearly at 1K signatures)

Updated: Oct 2

I NEED YOUR HELP - PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE PETITION TODAY.

I am hoping to improve the access to and safety of neuro-diverse children when at public playgrounds in our local government area. At the moment there's a severe lack of safe play spaces for children who abscond for whom road/water safety is a serious concern. It is neither kind nor realistic to insist special needs families, or even those with multiple little ones, travel to the very small number of playgrounds almost all way out on the boundary line of our LGA.

Please note I am not asking for all or even most playgrounds to be fenced, as I understand the reasons for and importance of open play spaces too, but right now out of 120 parks in Banyule only 5 of them include a safe play zone for neuro-diverse children and they are all a minimum of 10-18km round trips from our home (just as one family's example) so not one of them is local or walkable. Something almost all other families can access at any point in Banyule.

Please add your name and share our push to make things better for the neuro-diverse and other children of Banyule City Council for whom open, or only partially fenced playgrounds present a clear and present danger thus excluding them from their community and isolating them from the childhood joy other kids get to experience going to the park with loved ones.
